Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis will hold a grand opening celebration open house for its new Veterans Resource Center on July 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held on the downtown campus’ North Meridian Center, located at 50 W. Fall Creek Parkway, North Drive in room 100.
The dedicated space will be available for student, faculty and staff veterans to use.
“This center will be one of comfort to assist our veterans by providing a space where they can meet and connect with each other,” said Michael Couch II, director of financial aid outreach.
The new Veterans Resource Center features a study lounge, coffee pot, portable desktop, large meeting table for groups and dedicated student computers and television with Nintendo Switch. The space will also share important on- and off-campus information beneficial for veterans. Community partners will have the opportunity to share resources with veterans as well.
Veterans and non-veterans are welcome to the open house to become familiar with the space.
“From the moment a veteran or service member steps onto a college campus, they face a unique set of challenges and barriers that set them apart from other students,” Couch said. “We at Ivy Tech hope this resource space is a place for the students, ran by the students. Our veterans have served our country, and with this space, we want to create an environment where we serve them.”
