Maureen and her new co-worker/pet, Sally
Maureen Keller has taught hundreds of students taking IVYT Student Success classes since she joined Ivy Tech in 2008. It began by teaching just that one elective and over time, she began teaching more sections within the Foundations of Success department, also while teaching part-time in the corrections setting.
She became a full-time IVYT faculty member in 2014.
“Over my time at Ivy Tech, I have worked diligently to become an organized instructor for my students, to learn as much as I can about teaching and my discipline” Maureen explained.
And not only does Maureen strive to be the best she can be for her students, but she strives to be fully integrated into the Ivy Tech community through involvement in retention efforts, campus activities and committees.
Over the years since earning her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, then her Master’s in Special Education at Indiana University, Maureen has taught high school students, incarcerated students and those with special needs and learning differences.
“I love introducing new students to Ivy Tech and all its resources!”
In the time since transitioning to a 100% remote work environment, she is happy to have had the chance to teach online classes before, and it has not been too much of an adjustment.
“I am grateful to be fairly well-equipped to teach all my classes virtually,” she said. “While I’m still getting comfortable with hosting a Zoom meeting versus just participating, I was able to help my students on day one locate IvyLearn, walkthrough assignments and using the inbox with Zoom’s screen share feature.”
Maureen praises her entire IVYT team at Ivy Tech Indianapolis, feeling very equipped to get students off on the right foot.
