Career Development helps students learn about Federal Work Study Program in Bowen Commons

By Holly Wunder, assistant director of Career Development

During the month of September, Career Development promoted the Federal Work Study Program in the Bowen Commons at the downtown Indianapolis location. It was a great opportunity for students to discuss resumes, cover letters, and job opportunities on campus.

The FWS program allows students to gain experience in their field while working around their class schedule. And of course, students get to put money in their pockets.

There are currently 62 students working through the program, and here are a few comments that FWS students shared about their experiences:

It has been great working as a federal work study. I really love it. Federal work study has given me a great opportunity to gain experience while pursuing a college degree,” said Taufiq T.

Having the opportunity to be a Federal Work Study has been beneficial for me because I’ve gained new skills, improved customer service, and established new relationships. I’ve also been able to learn about programs and services available on campus,” said Kayona B.
