IvyCares makes distance education possible for student in need

IvyCares (formerly the Early Resource Connections Center) recently heard from a student who was struggling to attain the equipment necessary to succeed in online learning. The proactive team at IvyCares was able to allocate resources to help them secure a laptop.

“I am more than grateful just knowing that someone I don’t know is going out of her way to help buy me a laptop for my academic success. The thought of this got me so excited and emotional at the same time that really I thought I was dreaming.” The student, anonymous, said.

“You have no idea what you have done for me. You just gave me hope and have heighten(ed) my motivation to do better, to put extra effort and study harder. I am overwhelmed…Thank you for caring enough. Thank you in a million ways.”

IvyCares provides wraparound services for Ivy Tech students by focusing on four major areas; transportation needs, food insecurity, mental health, and emergency funds.

In light of the current global situation, IvyCares strives to meet the needs of students whose educations are jeopardized by circumstances related to COVID-19 through connective resources. For more information about the program, visit IvyTech.edu/ercc.
